Senjed – also known as serviceberry or the fruit of the oleaster tree – is a traditional dried fruit from Afghanistan, particularly from regions like Kunduz and Herat. It is characterized by its mealy-sweet aroma and a delicate, slightly resinous note. In Persian and Afghan culture, senjed symbolizes love, remembrance, and loyalty – and is an essential part of the Haft-Sin ritual during Nowruz.
